All-Star Wheelchair Basketball Game April 15

RICHMOND, VA – (Tuesday, March 28, 2023) – Sportable, Central Virginia’s premier accessible sports club, is proud to host Richmond’s first ever All-Star Wheelchair Basketball Game on Saturday, April 15. Top wheelchair basketball players from across the state will compete in the “95 versus 64 All-Star Game” during the RVA Adaptive Sports Festival. Tip-off is slated for 1:00 p.m. at Glen Allen High School.

Featuring two-time Paralympic Gold Medalist Trevon Jenifer, members of the Sportable Rim Riders, and players from four other Virginia-based teams, the 95 vs 64 All-Star Game will take place on the marquee court during the RVA Adaptive Sports Festival presented by C&F Bank and C&F Mortgage. The free event begins at 10:00 a.m. and is the largest exposition in the region of sports and recreational opportunities for people of all ages with disabilities. The RVA Adaptive Sports Festival is an accessible and inclusive experience day that will provide the opportunity to try sports equipment adapted for individuals of all ages with limited mobility, physical disabilities, and visual impairments. Non-stop wheelchair sports action on three courts, 16 adaptive sports demonstrations, and more than 70 community partners will be in attendance throughout the event.

Founded in 1981, the Rim Riders wheelchair basketball team has been a mainstay in Richmond for more than 40 years. The team merged with Sportable in 2017 and is a Division II member of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA). The Rim Riders are currently ranked 14th in the country, and will compete in the 2023 NWBA National Championships in Wichita, Kansas this weekend, March 31-April 2.
