Volunteer Application - REQUIRED FOR ALL NEW VOLUNTEERS
You MUST complete the Volunteer Application BEFORE registering for ANY of the below opportunities.
The Application allows you to:
- Enter your contact information
- Sign the Waiver, Code of Conduct, and Confidentiality Agreement
- Upload your CPS Mandated Reporter Training Certificate of Completion (only required for volunteers 18+)
- Submit a Volunteer Background Check (only required for volunteers 16+)

PARENTS AND YOUTH VOLUNTEERS MUST FILL OUT SEPARATE APPLICATIONS. DO NOT SUBMIT ONE APPLICATION FOR TWO PEOPLE.
Sportable’s Substitute Volunteer Roster
Sportable’s Substitute Volunteer Roster is designed for volunteers who are willing to jump in on short notice and help out with any program. This is a great opportunity for people who have inconsistent schedules or difficulty committing to the entirety of a sport program’s season, but still want to make an impact on the lives of our athletes.
River City Classic Wheelchair Basketball Tournament
Dates: Saturday, January 31-February 1, 2026
Times: Morning, Afternoon, and Evening shifts available.
Location: Henrico Sports and Events Center - 1 All Star Boulevard, Glen Allen, VA 23059
Volunteer Duties:
- Scoreboard: Operates game clock and updates score with progress in game.
- Scorebook: Keep track of game stats (tally score, fouls, and timeouts).
- Shot Clock: Operates shock clock according to instructions listed per division.
- Floater/Spotter: Stationed at end of courts, clean floors during timeouts and in between games. Stationed in between courts to prevent balls from rolling onto other courts.
- Team Check In: Escort teams to proper courts, escort teams to proper storage location. Assist front desk with shirt distribution and name tags.

Volunteer Duties:
- Greeter: Greet attendees, direct them to the Check-In table, using clicker to count attendees
- Check-In: Welcome attendees, direct attendees to scan QR code for festival program, provide overview of event, highlight schedule
- Volunteer Check-In: Welcome volunteers, mark them as present or absent, direct them to their station
- Sports Demos: Assist Sportable staff and coaches with the sports demos
- Breakdown: Assist with breaking down event
