Virginia Adaptive Sports Festival October 19
RICHMOND, VA – (Thursday, August 8, 2024) – Sportable, Central Virginia’s premier adaptive sports club, is proud to host the Virginia Adaptive Sports Festival on Saturday, October 19, 2024, 10am-2pm, at the state-of-the-art Henrico Sports & Events Center. The free event is the East Coast’s largest exposition of sports, recreational, and wellness opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Registration is available now at Sportable.org.

Taking place on four courts at the Henrico Sports & Events Center, the accessible and inclusive experience day will provide the opportunity to try sports equipment adapted for individuals of all ages with limited mobility, physical disabilities, and visual impairments.
Adaptive sports such as archery, boccia, cycling, goalball, wheelchair lacrosse, pickleball, racing, rowing, wheelchair rugby, and tennis will be featured through demonstrations, exhibitions, pickup games, and skills clinics. More than 50 community partners are expected to attend, showcasing resources for the disability community in Virginia.
Simultaneously, the venue’s adjacent four courts will feature the River City Classic Wheelchair Basketball Tournament. Twenty Junior Prep and Varsity and Adult Division II and Division III wheelchair basketball teams, including the Sportable Spokes, will compete October 19-20.
The host venue, Henrico Sports & Events Center, opened in November 2023 and is home to the 2024 and 2025 NWBA Wheelchair Basketball National Championships. The state-of-the-art facility has a total of 12 courts and more than 185,000-square feet of adaptable event space.
