Sportable Boosters Share the Love Year-Round
Amy Ridolphi decided to become a Sportable Booster Club member (a monthly donor to Sportable) during the pandemic. She recalls observing how Sportable worked so hard to keep athletes active and engaged while other nonprofits shut their doors temporarily or even permanently.
“I love how easy monthly giving is,” said Amy. “My donation comes out of my bank account automatically each month. It provides a simple way to track and increase my giving as circumstances allow.”
Amy is also grateful for the sense of community Sportable provides. Her son, Jack, Sportable’s 2021 Youth Athlete of the Year, will be a freshman engineering student at Virginia Commonwealth University this fall. Amy believes that having older athletes who are successful on and off the court as mentors helped Jack have the confidence to pursue his career goals at VCU.
Sportable Booster Club members aren’t just family members of athlete. Boosters can be anyone who believes that sports and physical fitness contribute to the health and wellness of ALL people—including those with physical disabilities and visual impairments.
“It is the nature of every nonprofit to have months where there is abundant funding and months where there isn’t a lot of funding coming in,” added Hunter Leemon, Sportable Executive Director. “Sportable Boosters provide the sustaining gifts that ensure our athletes can train and compete every month of the year.”
