Sportable Announces Tailgate Matching Challenge

RICHMOND, VA – (Thursday, September 22, 2022) – Sportable, Central Virginia’s premier adaptive sports club, is proud to announce a matching challenge to kick off Sportable’s Tailgate Season. Should Sportable raise $10,000 prior to October 8, 2022, Riverside Benefits Group will contribute a dollar-for-dollar match to support the organization’s mission to make sports accessible and inclusive in RVA. To support athletes with physical disabilities and visual impairments with a donation, visit Sportable.org.

“The matching challenge issued by Riverside Benefits Group is incredible,” said Hunter Leemon, Sportable Executive Director. “We are eager to celebrate with Tailgate hosts and guests across the region over the next several weeks. Hosting or donating to a Tailgate are the best ways to support our mission to create top-quality, inclusive sports programs and through this matching challenge, now your impact will be doubled.”

Sportable’s signature fundraising campaign, the Sportable Tailgate presented by Dominion Energy, will begin on Thursday, September 22 with the Hourigan Athlete Tailgate at Triple Crossing – Fulton. Corporate partners C&F Bank and Sheltering Arms Institute are slated to host Tailgate events, while dozens of Sportable families, donors, and supporters plan to host personalized parties through October 7. The goal is to fundraise $110,000 for the non-profit’s mission to make sports accessible and inclusive for individuals with physical disabilities.

Gifts of any amount will provide critical unrestricted support and will directly impact the lives of hundreds of local residents. To join the fundraising efforts and register to host a Tailgate, visit Sportable.org or contact Katy Latimer, Development Director, at katy@sportable.org.
