RICHMOND, VA – (Thursday, May 4, 2023) – Sportable, Central Virginia’s premier adaptive sports club, is proud to kick off the River City Slam weekend with the River City Run/Roll Tennis Tournament on Thursday, June 8, 2023, 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Salisbury Country Club. Top wheelchair tennis players from across the country will play alongside able-bodied tennis players in doubles pairings in a fun, social, and competitive format. The event will also include a Player’s Welcome Reception presented by Windward Advisors with live music, food, and drinks. Registration for the River City Run/Roll is available now at Sportable.org.

“We are thrilled to host a run/roll tennis tournament to kick off the River City Slam weekend and we are grateful to Windward Advisors and generous donors who are creating unique opportunities like this,” commented Hunter Leemon, Chief Executive Officer. “Inviting the RVA tennis community to play alongside some of the top wheelchair tennis players in the country is the perfect way to celebrate an incredible weekend of tennis in Richmond.”

In support of Sportable’s mission to make sports accessible and inclusive, the River City Run/Roll Tennis Tournament will include a multi-tiered, peer-to-peer fundraiser that will empower participants and supporters to become advocates for individuals with physical disabilities and raise $5,000 to support adaptive sports in Central Virginia.

The River City Slam Wheelchair Tennis Tournament will take place June 9-11, 2023 at the Williams-Bollettieri Tennis Center on The Collegiate School’s Robins Campus. The USTA-sanctioned Level 2 tournament is open to all levels, including first-time players, in divisions A, B, C, D, Quad Open, and Juniors. Over the last two years, the tournament has attracted nearly 100 players from 17 states spanning California to Virginia.
