River City Classic Presented by Allianz Partners March 4-5
RICHMOND, VA – (Monday, February 27, 2023) – Sportable, Central Virginia’s premier adaptive sports club, is proud to host the River City Classic presented by Allianz Partners this weekend, March 4-5, 2023. Hosted by the Sportable Rim Riders, the adult wheelchair basketball tournament will feature a dozen Division II and Division III teams from across the east coast at RockIt Sports in Richmond, Virginia. Community members are encouraged to attend free of charge.

Founded in 1981, the Rim Riders wheelchair basketball team has been a mainstay in Richmond for more than 40 years. The team merged with Sportable in 2017 and is a Division II member of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA). The Rim Riders are currently ranked 16th in the country, and have qualified for the national tournament in Wichita, Kansas next month.
The River City Classic will tip off on Saturday, March 4 with action beginning at 8:00 am and continuing on three courts throughout the day. The Sportable Rim Riders will take on the Shepherd Stealers (Georgia) at 11:00 am and the Magee Spokesmen (Pennsylvania) at 2:00 pm on Saturday and the Charlotte Rollin’ Hornets (North Carolina) at 8:00 am and the Triangle Thunder (North Carolina) on Sunday on the ITAC Court. The tournament will conclude with Championship Games on all three courts on Sunday, March 5.
