Wheelchair Basketball Nationals Volunteer Training

Thank you so much for registering to volunteer at the 2025 NWBA Wheelchair Basketball National Championships! With 100 teams competing on eight courts, and over 1,000 wheelchair basketball players traveling to Richmond, we could not make this event a success without you.

Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities

Duties Include:

  • Assisting Sportable staff in ensuring a smooth flow of players and spectators into the facility 
  • Greeting and welcoming players and spectators
  • Scanning tickets using iPads
  • Demonstrating friendly customer service

Duties Include:

  • Oversee score table operations for one court
  • Serve as the main liaison for your court to ensure seamless communications throughout games
  • Manage the scorebook and keep official stats on the NWBA scoresheet
  • Assist with training scoreboard and shot clock volunteers
  • Assist with resetting clocks and troubleshooting technical issues as needed

Duties Include:

  • Manage the shot clock during game play
  • Shot clocks are used for the entire game including overtime periods

Shot Clock Instructions

Duties Include:

  • Assist with setting up the Junior Division Banquet
  • Set up tables, table decor, balloons, yard games, signage, etc 
  • Assist with check-in and hospitality 
  • Assist with breakdown
