Marchiano Selected to USA Wheelchair Rugby Development Team

RICHMOND, VA – (Tuesday, October 18, 2022) – Sportable, Central Virginia’s premier adaptive sports club, is proud to announce that Mandy Marchiano has been named to the USA Wheelchair Rugby Developmental Team.  One of 15 players chosen at the Development Team tryouts designed for players who show potential for elite level wheelchair rugby in September, Marchiano will join the team when they compete against the Great Britain Development Team November 14-21, 2022 in Birmingham, AL.

Marchiano’s selection follows her stint with the USA Low-Point Wheelchair Rugby team that competed at the World Games in Birmingham, AL last July. She currently resides in Tucson, Arizona where she is training with the University of Arizona wheelchair rugby team.

A native of Colonial Heights, Virginia and graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, Marchiano began participating in Sportable programs in 2017. She joined the Sportable Possums Wheelchair Rugby team two years later and has since been recognized multiple times at wheelchair rugby tournaments across the east coast.
