
Foundational Partners Announced for 2024 Wheelchair Basketball National Championships in Richmond
RICHMOND, VA – (Thursday, January 11, 2024) – Sportable, Central Virginia’s premier adaptive sports club, is proud to announce six Foundational Partners who have played an integral role in bringing the NWBA Adult and Junior Division Wheelchair Basketball National Tournaments to Virginia for the first time in history. In partnership with Dominion Energy, Henrico Sports & Entertainment Authority, Markel, Richmond Region Tourism, Sheltering Arms Institute, and TowneBank, the championship events will be held April 5-14, 2024 at the state-of-the-art Henrico Sports & Events Center in Henrico, Virginia.

The top 16 ranked wheelchair basketball teams for each Adult Division (I, II, III) will earn an invitation to their respective divisions’ national tournament April 12-14, 2024. The top 36 ranked teams for Varsity level and the top 16 ranked teams from Prep level will earn an invitation to participate in the NWBA Junior Division Wheelchair Basketball National Championships one-week prior, April 5-7, 2024. In total, 100 teams and over 1,200 wheelchair basketball players will compete for coveted national titles.
The host venue, Henrico Sports & Events Center, opened in November 2023 and features more than 185,000-square feet of adaptable event space. The NWBA Wheelchair Basketball National Tournaments will utilize all 12 basketball courts for games, vendors, and meeting spaces, culminating in the Championship games held in the 3,500-seat arena.
