Adaptive Programs Manager

Job Description: The Adaptive Programs Manager leads the planning and execution of diverse sports and recreation programs at Sportable, with primary responsibility for the basketball programs. This includes tailoring programming for individuals with physical and visual disabilities, as well as assisting with program delivery through athlete assessments, equipment modification, volunteer and coach management, and training. This individual will also support the Director of Adaptive Programming with data collection and analysis, staff support and management, and overall program administration.

Category Type: This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position. Some night and weekend work is required.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Program Management & Operations:
- Provide leadership and direction for basketball and assigned adaptive sports programs, contributing to strategic development and ensuring smooth daily operations. This includes coordinating season schedules, events, and managing tournament finances.
- Serve as the primary team representative, overseeing all travel and logistical arrangements.
- Fulfill essential team support roles (equipment manager, team reviewer, assistant coach) and offer comprehensive support to athletes regarding NWBA administration and technical needs.
- Manage all administrative functions, including facility coordination, reporting, athlete assessments, event documentation, and communications.
- Oversee data collection and analysis to inform program improvements and decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and provide related support.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships:
- Establish and nurture strong relationships with all key stakeholders (athletes, coaches, event directors, facility leadership, national governing body).
- Implement effective recruitment strategies for athletes, volunteers, and coaches.
- Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with community and national organizations to expand program reach and impact.
- Resource & Personnel Management:
- Oversee the procurement, inventory, allocation, maintenance, and modification of program supplies and adaptive equipment, including managing equipment loans.
- Supervise, mentor, and guide all program personnel (interns, coaches, volunteers, part-time staff).
- Contribute to volunteer training development and delivery.
- Support coaches and potentially lead teams during programs.
- Program Development & Financial Oversight:
- Collaborate to integrate health and wellness components into all programs and contribute to outcome measurement.
- Assist in tracking grant requirements and preparing reports.
- Support the scholarship process by providing necessary assistance and information.
- Contribute to the development and management of program budgets.
- Lead the planning and execution of program-related events, collaborating with other relevant departments, as needed.
- Provide support for other Sportable events, as requested.
- Actively participate in program team meetings, fostering communication and collaboration.
- Organizational Contribution:
- Undertake additional responsibilities to support the overall success and strategic growth of all Sportable programs.
Qualifications and Skills
- Passion for Sportable's mission and a commitment to promoting inclusion and accessibility.
- Bachelor's degree in recreation therapy, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, exercise science, public health, sports administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist® (CTRS) preferred
- 5+ years of experience working with adaptive sports, basketball programming preferred
- Experience in working with individuals with disability preferred
- Experience with CRMs/databases, Salesforce preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Strong personal initiative and ability to work independently
- Proficient in collaborating effectively with team members and experience with coordinating staff, volunteers, and various stakeholders
- Comfortable working on multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently
- Strong work ethic and high degree of professionalism
- Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite
- Ability to work remotely and travel to related adaptive sport events, tournaments, and competitions.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Evening and weekend work required
