Sportable and DBVI Present The No Barriers Life with Erik Weihenmayer March 26

RICHMOND, VA – (Thursday, March 17, 2022) – Sportable, in partnership with The Richmond Forum, is proud to host an exclusive simulcast event of “The No Barriers Life” keynote address from blind adventurer, Erik Weihenmayer. The event is presented by the Virginia Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired.

An avid climber, skier, paraglider, and kayaker, Weihenmayer climbed the summit of Mount Everest in 2001, and will share his “No Barriers” philosophy, the experiences that cultivated that philosophy, and how it can be used to overcome challenges with invited guests of the Sportable and DBVI communities.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Virginia Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired and The Richmond Fourm to bring Erik’s message to our community,” said Hunter Leemon, Sportable Executive Director. “The DBVI understands the impact of enthusiasm, education, and perseverance, and shares our passion for enhancing the lives of individuals with visual impairments. We are looking forward to this unique event.”

“The Virginia Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired is pleased to join such a respected community institution as the Richmond Forum and our longtime partner, Sportable, in making this event possible,” said Ray Hopkins, DBVI Commissioner. “RVA is fortunate to have this opportunity to hear from Eric Weihenmayer, a world renowned presenter on leadership and motivation. Hopefully, Mr. Weihenmayer will inspire some Virginians with disabilities and others to pursue their dreams.”

The private event will take place Saturday, March 26th. For information or sponsorship opportunities, contact Cindy Schmitt, Sportable Development Director, at cindy@sportable.org.
