RICHMOND, VA – (Thursday, October 21, 2021) – Sportable, Central Virginia’s premier adaptive sports club, is proud to announce the return of the Commonwealth Cup, presented by Rybec Insurance, on Saturday, November 20, 2021. The power soccer tournament will feature the Sportable Hive and the Tidewater Piranhas and will take place at Manchester Middle School in Chesterfield County.
“After a two-year hiatus, we are thrilled to bring the Commonwealth Cup presented by Rybec Insurance back to RVA,” commented Hunter Leemon, Sportable Executive Director. “Our power soccer team, the Sportable Hive, are eager to compete against one of the top teams in Virginia and a spirited I-64 derby is guaranteed.”
“We consider it our privilege to once again be a part of the Commonwealth Cup and are so excited that it is back this fall,” added Ryan HICKEY, Rybec Insurance Owner. “My colleagues and I absolutely love watching the athletes compete and come together as a team. Coach Jessie Oliff puts her heart into it and really brings out the best in her players. We are looking forward to another action-packed power soccer tournament next month.”
Power Soccer is a sport specifically designed for power wheelchair users. Guards mounted on players’ wheelchairs allow them to dribble and score by pushing an 18″ ball across their opponent’s goal line. Richmond’s Power Soccer team, the Sportable Hive, will compete against the prestigious Tidewater Piranhas.
