Matching Challenge Bolsters Army of Orange Campaign

RICHMOND, VA – (Thursday, September 3, 2020) – Sportable, Central Virginia’s premier adaptive sports club, is proud to announce a $15,000 matching challenge to double all contributions to the 15th Anniversary Army of Orange Campaign. The match is made possible by the generous support of two anonymous donors. All donations will have a direct and immediate impact on Sportable’s mission to make sports accessible and inclusive for individuals with physical disabilities and visual impairments.

“Having donors step up to match donations to our Army of Orange campaign speaks volumes to the strength of the Sportable mission,” said Scott Golden, chair, Sportable board of directors. “Funds raised will help us continue to provide a fun, inclusive, competitive and accessible sporting environment for our growing list of athletes.”

Sportable’s Army of Orange Campaign is a multi-tiered, peer-to-peer fundraiser that empowers and inspires supporters to become advocates for individuals with physical disabilities and to raise critical funds to support adaptive sports in Richmond. Every Army of Orange Campaign from now through September 26 will be matched one-to-one to double the impact and help reach the campaign’s $30,000 goal.

Army of Orange members are encouraged to host socially distanced, small events or challenges in celebration of Sportable’s 15th anniversary that will culminate with the 9th Annual RVA Tailgate – Remote Edition Sept. 18-20. Examples of Army of Orange tailgate events include incorporating personal milestones such as birthdays or anniversaries, engaging in physical activity, hosting a do-it-yourself tailgate event and many more.

Sportable revenues are 97 percent philanthropic and funded almost entirely through donations and grants. Gifts of any amount will provide critical unrestricted support and will directly impact the lives of hundreds of local residents.
