What
Fencing is a fast and dynamic sport that uses the sword as a physical and intellectual challenge. It is a lifetime sport for people of all ages and teaches among other things, self-discipline, strength, speed, balance, and coordination.
Fencing instruction will focus on several key areas:
- History and customs of the sport
- Basic rules and concepts of fencing
- The three fencing weapons (foil, sabre, and epee)
- Safety
- Basic fencing skills and techniques
- How competitions work (session will conclude with a class competition)

Who
Individuals ages 10 and up with a physical disability* or visual impairment and an interest in fencing.
Please make sure that all athletes have filled out the Waiver & Release of Liability Form and the Medical Information Form. Both can be found in our Form Archives. Please turn in forms at first sport session.

*The majority of Sportable programs can be adapted for all levels of physical ability, including those individuals who are ambulatory or use a manual or power wheelchair.
